My Mission & who are we

My mission through this blog is for me to have an outlet & if my words help, inspire or give another parent a feeling of norm that is great. Because when we were going through getting the diagnosis of Autism for our son Lyam that feeling of norm was lost, but we did find our new norm over time or what we call norm because really what is normal.

Our Cast of Characters in our family is Lyam who is 9 years old, he was diagnosed at the age of 2 with Autism at the time he was non verbal. Lyam loves cows, pigs & his family, I would like to think that family would come first in the order but his true love are cows. He would explain to you that he loves them because they have kind eyes also they are cute & fluffy. Kadynce is 13 she loves lego & that is an understatement. She loves her family, friends, sports, crafting & cooking. Can that girl cook but it can be a little scary when your sleeping & she comes into your room to say “Dad open your mouth, I made you something” thankfully it is always amazing but she definitely catches you in a position when your in a vulnerable state. Our eldest is Mikah she is 15 our fixer & helper of anything & everyone. Mikah has one of the largest hearts of anyone I know. Her interests are family, friends, baby Yoda, baby Yoda oh & did I mention baby Yoda. 🙂 Being obsessed with baby Yoda is a bit of an understatement. If we’re going in order of age I would be next, My name is Desiree or Des most people call me Des unless I did something wrong then the full Desiree comes out. I met my husband Boyd when I was 20 on Facebook of all things, I seen his photo, thought to myself “well he’s hot”, added him as a friend & the rest is history. We’ve been married for 10 years & together for 13 and a bit. You may be thinking to yourself well how does that math add up with the ages of our children well we will get into that later. Last but not least is Boyd he is well my person, my patience, my reason, but about him. He loved playing in dirt as a kid & that turned into a career for him but with a much larger sandbox/dirt pile. His true loves are his family, friends & inventing things lately with his 3d printer. The nickname he was given was Boydgyver and he has definitely lived up to that name. I envy Boyds patience, something that he has taught me and continues to do so.

When I think of ying and yang, I think of Boyd & myself. He has long lasting patience, I don’t, I have the jump in with two feet and see what happens, he has let’s put a toe in and assess the situation before we commit. We compliment each other, challenge one another & most importantly never give up on each-other. & if it wasn’t for that conversation & promise we made to each-other before we got engaged I don’t know where we would be. I would like to think we would still be in the same place we are now, only because of how stubborn we both are. Boyd & I started watching yellow stone not to long ago & there is a scene between Rip & Beth that Boyd & I relate to. Beth tells Rip ” I love you. I’ll see you at the house. But f**k you.” & the reason Boyd & I relate to this and laughed and rewatched this scene is because there was a moment many years ago where he said ” you need to leave & my reply was you’re stuck with me, good luck with that.” We don’t quit, we don’t believe in it & we won’t.
